As I gave the order to the waiter who had come up with me, I walked to the back...
– Lu Xun, “Upstairs in a Wineshop”.
I often feel like this when returning back to my home town. It’s a sense of nostalgia and culture shock at the same time. So many things change; so many things stay the same.

Eeeee!
Well, I did it! I organized my first-ever tea party, which I’d like to do in a very Alice in Wonderland kind of way. I’m lucky that Tealuxe is in Harvard Sq. and an awesome pastry shop is right around the corner from me.
I was thinking of a dress like this! Oooh and gloves!
I may also try my hand at making Sangria.
Can’t wait, can’t wait, can’t wait!!

Other wedding decisions
My fiance’s parents have decided to generously provide the favors for our wedding.
They’re getting bottles of wine for everyone, and we have to decide what we want on the label.
I’m pretty sure we’ve decided to go with a quote that I’d like to be my next tattoo:
“a Domino factum est istud et est mirabile in oculis nostris”
this translates to:...
ericalynn:
just watched whip it, i want to play roller derby. @katiyeh and i want to start a massart team.
Boston Derby Dames used to practice at MassArt… They give tips at the rink in Saugus.. Just as an FYI. :) The whips are worth it.

Boo again.
So, I’m willing to bet that hormones are making my reactions to things a little bit mucky, but I just have zero tolerance for anything today.
Dropping things. People in my way. Coming home to a sink full of dishes. I just want nothing to do with any of it.
Part of it also may have to do with the fact that I’m STILL feeling sick. I vacillate between feeling fine and either coughing up...

Boo.
Ohhh Red Sox, I love you very much. But tossing me back into the virtual waiting room after I had the option of buying rooftop box seats… you’re making me VERY angry.
I honestly can remember a time when you could just walk up to the box office and purchase tickets. Thanks to Red Sox being trendy (don’t get me started on the “pink hats” ((the girls who dress up like...

The Spanish Dancer
As on all its sides a kitchen-match darts white flickering tongues before it bursts into flame: with the audience around her, quickened, hot, her dance begins to flicker in the dark room. And all at once it is completely fire. One upward glance and she ignites her hair and, whirling faster and faster, fans her dress into passionate flames, till it becomes a furnace from which,...

Interesting word of the day
gemütlichkeit |gəˈmoōtlikˌkīt| (also Gemütlichkeit)
noun
geniality; friendliness.
ORIGIN mid 19th cent.: German.
Thank you, MacBook. Your dictionary screen saver makes my day! Although I don’t think I’ve ever heard this word used in the English vernacular. It is, however, quite fun to say out loud.

Shall I show this as a grammar lesson in class? →
Can the oatmeal help me grade, too?
::hack hack::
I had a perfectly good teaching day until I fell into a fit of coughing five minutes to the end of my lecture — as in coughing so hard that tears were coming down my cheeks and my nose ran. With five minutes left of class, I just let them go.
I’m sure it was an awesome sight. ::sigh::
